Acorn Superglide Stairlifts Power Supply

Works during Power failure

No mains voltage on the stairlift

No trailing cables

Quick, simple installation – no mess or disruption

Smooth and near silent operation

‘Soft start / soft stop’

Acorn stairlifts are powered by direct current (DC) supplied by rechargeable batteries. These deliver a smooth, ultra-quiet and safe ride quality. The batteries are maintenance-free and charged by a safe 15 volt AC, which is stepped-down from the domestic mains supply with a transformer. Using this method of power for your stairlift has many advantages. If there is ever a power failure in your home your stairlift continues to function, so you will never get stranded. There is no mains voltage power to your stairlift. As the power supply is onboard the stairlift itself there is no troublesome trailing cable as you get with AC powered lifts. DC battery power gives an extremely smooth and near silent operation. It also allows us to build in a ‘soft start / soft stop’, this means that there is no jolting or lurching as your stairlift starts or finishes its journey. This adds to the feeling of safety and stability.

Acorn Superglide Stairlifts Ride Quality

Smoothest, quietest and most luxurious ride quality

Unique rail profile and chassis roller system

DC power

Rack and pinion drive systems

Superb feeling of safety and stability

The peerless ride quality is attributed to our unique rail profile and chassis roller system working in conjunction with the DC power and rack and pinion drive systems. Typically, other stairlifts feature four, or sometimes six, chassis rollers and a box section rail. The Acorn Superglide stairlift has eight rollers, giving a surface contact area at least four times greater than competitor products. Such features, along with our unique double-tube rail profile, gives the smoothest, quietest and most luxurious ride quality currently available, and a superb feeling of safety and stability when using the stairlift.

Easy to Use

Whisper-quiet operation

Simple paddle and infra-red remote control operation

‘Soft start / soft stop’ technology

Swivel seat

Diagnostic digital display

Folding Seat

All of the easy to use features are built into each stairlift Acorn manufacture. Having a fold away footrest means the stairs remain available for use by others when the stairlift is not in use. Due to the stairlifts DC power supply noise levels are at whisper quiet levels. The lift can be ‘sent’ or ‘called’ to wherever it is needed by using the infra-red remote control. There is no jolting or lurching as the lift starts or finishes its journey. Swivel seat with locking catch – ensures easy mounting and dismounting from the stairlift. The lift will not operate unless the seat is in the correct riding position. The diagnostic digital display mounted on the stairlift carriage shows clearly when the lift is in the normal operating position and also provides invaluable diagnostic information in the unlikely event of a fault with your stairlift.

Safe to Use

Designed to meet British standards (BS5776-1996)

Additional certification granted by TRL EMC

Pressure-sensitive safety surfaces

Limit sensors

Dual electronic and mechanical braking systems

Lockable isolation switch

24 Volt DC operation

Designed to meet BS5776-1996 eliminating any risk of electric shock. Dual electronic and mechanical braking systems eliminate the possibility of an uncontrolled descent. Lockable isolation switch to ensure that the stairlift always stops in the correct position. Pressure-sensitive safety surfaces that prevent the lift from colliding with any obstruction on the stairway. These are located around the footrest, and on the top and bottom of the carriage.

Easy to Maintain

Stairlifts fit to stair treads

Factory-prepared for installation

No mains wiring necessary

Maintenance free batteries

Infra-red remote controls

Our stairlifts are fit to the treads of the stairs and not to the wall, so there’s no need for any structural modifications. The installation process is quick, clean and simple because we use our own fully trained installation engineers. Each stairlift is factory prepared, which means that the stairlift is custom built to fit your staircase. There are no expensive and disruptive alterations to the mains power supply due to the dc batteries that power the stairlift when in motion. The two twelve volt batteries that power the stairlift, are charged at either end of the stairlift, therefore there are no trailing cables that can get in the way. There are no wires for the remote controls either, to call the stairlift to your location you simply press a button on the wireless remote controls.
